Employee Housing Supervisor
Seasons at Copper Mountain Resort:

What do you chase?
A fine balance between stability & spontaneity
How did you decide on Copper Mountain Resort?
I had previously worked seasonal positions (Ski & Ride School & Hospitality) in the county for a few years and then left and headed East thinking I was going to plant myself there but then I boomeranged back to the west coast where I finally got tired of moving and started applying for Human Resources roles. Apparently I had one more move left in me and Copper was hiring for a seasonal HR Specialist. Being familiar with the area, I applied and the rest is history.
Living the resort lifestyle has its challenges, what advice would you give someone choosing this career path?
It helps to understand that there will be novel discomforts (e.g. cold, dark weather, unexpected costs) and that existing around seasonal work has its ups and downs (e.g. friends leave and you might prefer one season over the other). Most importantly, take care of your mind and body! Illness in this weather can go on forever, random injuries can occur anywhere so engage your core and waddle like a duck, and take a self-care day every once in a while. Don't overdo it—burnout is real! Hearing it is one thing but experiencing might be the only way to gauge how to make it. Lastly...Drink. Water.
What do you like about working for Copper?
I love the sense of community! I felt this at smaller resorts and thought I would only feel it at places like that. I love walking down a pathway, stopping by a chairlift, eating at a restaurant, and being able to say hi to people and hear about their day!
