Sustainability
Patrons of Copper Mountain and other surrounding resorts are able to donate one or two dollars to the National Forest Foundation when purchasing ski passes or lodging. The National Forest Foundation invests these guest contributions to local nonprofits that use seasonal workers and volunteers to conduct on-the-ground work such as trail maintenance.
The National Forest Foundation established it’s Ski Conservation Fund in Colorado in 2007. Since that time, Copper Mountain has raised over $250,000 towards the Fund’s $3 million in investments throughout the White River National Forest. This money has helped establish 8 community-based partner organizations that have completed 50+ stewardship projects.
About the National Forest Foundation
Founded by Congress in 1991, the National Forest Foundation (NFF) works to conserve, restore and enhance America’s 193-million-acre National Forest System. Through community-based strategies and public-private partnerships, the NFF enhances wildlife habitat, revitalizes wildfire-damaged landscapes, restores watersheds, and improves recreational resources for the benefit of all Americans. The NFF’s Treasured Landscapes, Unforgettable Experiences national conservation campaign is uniting public and private partners to conduct large-scale forest and watershed restoration and revitalize ecosystem resiliency in iconic National Forest System sites around the nation.
