Media Information
Information about Copper’s news media policies, media ticket and visit requests, and commercial filming.

On-Site Editorial Reporting/Filming Policy: At Copper Mountain, we welcome media inquiries and stories about our resort. We are an operating ski and summer resort, and those operations include the use of heavy equipment like snowplows, snowcats, dump trucks, and front-end loaders. To protect the safety and privacy of our guests and employees, and to maintain the integrity of our operations, we require media personnel to obtain prior approval from the Communications Team before filming or photography, including on-site interviews. Please reach out to our Communications Team by emailing obutrymovich@coppercolorado.com to request access and coordinate your visit. We appreciate your cooperation.
Media Passes, Lift Tickets, and Hosted Visits: We’re always looking to work with media. If you have a story idea or a pitch we can help with, please reach out with details including the deadline, publication, and story angle. If you plan to visit the mountain as part of your coverage, please include tentative dates of your arrival/departure. Complimentary products, including lift tickets and rental equipment, may be available to media members on assignment. If you intend to request a lift ticket, rentals or activity access, please provide at least a week's notice.
In addition, Copper may support hosted media visits to the mountain, for credentialed media on assignment. Hosted visits must be requested and confirmed through the resort Communications team at least one month in advance of the visit. We aim to provide the best experience possible for our guests and do not typically offer complimentary media product during peak periods, including Thanksgiving, Christmas, the New Year, MLK Weekend, Presidents’ Day long weekend, certain Spring Break periods, and Easter.

Commercial Photography/Videography: Commercial photography and videography are not allowed without prior written permission from Copper Mountain, a U.S. Forest Service permit, and payment of the U.S. Forest Service site fee. Please allow at least two weeks or more to complete the process. “Commercial Photography” is anything not strictly for news media. If you are shooting promotional content and material for a company, service, product, or brand, you must have permission from both the Copper Mountain and the U.S. Forest Service. We know that Copper Mountain hosts many events each season that offer opportunities for brands to capture their athletes in action at our world-class venues. Press credentials must be obtained for these events to take photos/film the competition. If commercial filming is expected to take place outside the bounds of competition, you must obtain the appropriate permissions and permits from Copper Mountain.
Drone Usage: Copper Mountain prohibits the operation or use of drones by recreational users and hobbyists. Requests for the use of drone(s) for commercial purposes will be reviewed by Copper Mountain and, if allowed, will require the execution of an agreement. In addition, all drone pilots must hold a Remote Pilot Certificate from the FAA and abide by the FAA’s Small UAS Rule (Part 107).
Request Photo/Video of Copper Mountain: Copper Mountain is happy to provide photos and videos, including drone photos and video, taken by our content team to use for news media purposes upon request. Copper has two content specialists on staff to capture resort and Woodward content. Any usage of photos or videos provided by the resort must be credited, courtesy of Copper Mountain. Please email our PR team to be added to our media distribution lists to receive new snow images and resort updates throughout the season.
Copper reserves the right to modify or update this media policy at any time, for any reason, without prior notice.
