Woodward Camp chose to complete the peer review process and meet the standards for accreditation. ACA accreditation goes beyond basic requirements for health, cleanliness, and food service, into specific areas of programming including camp staff from director through counselors, emergency management plans, health care, and management.

Key ACA Standards:

  • Staff to camper ratios that are appropriate for different age groups.
  • Training for staff to minimize staff-to-camper ratios that are appropriate for different age groups.
  • Rule of three policy to protect campers from being in 1 on 1 situations/areas - Weekly goals for camp activities that are developmentally based.
  • Emergency transportation available at all times.
  • First-aid facilities and trained staff available throughout camp operations.
  • Comprehensive staff training and leadership programs.
