Lessons can be taken on any dates between December 19, 2013 and March 30, 2014. Ski and Ride school University is exclusively designed for those who are new to snow sports. If you are familiar with skiing and riding, know how to get on and off a chairlift or know about Copper Mountain already, this program is not for you. Feel free to check out any of our adult seasonal programs or adult lessons.
Ski and Ride U can only be purchased in person at Copper Mountain. Head into Copper Mountain Guest Services or the Mountain Sports Sales Center, and we will process your payment on the spot. Your three lessons can be taken on any dates between December 19, 2013 and March 30, 2014. (all lessons are based on availability, so the sooner you book the better) To book your lessons, call us at 866-656-1540. Tell the agent that you are enrolled in Ski and Ride U, and tell them where you are in the program: I.e. are you calling to book your first, second, or third lesson? Your vacation specialist will set you up with lessons on the dates that you choose!
To prepare for your first day of lessons, You will need winter clothing (i.e. one pair of winter socks, long underwear, water proof & insulated jacket/pant, hat, gloves/mittens, sun glasses or goggles, and a helmet is recommended. (Lesson participants under 18 are required to wear a helmet). Click here for more tips on what to wear and bring! Remember, you will be renting your skis or snowboard when you get to Copper, so allow yourself enough time to drive here, park, and get through the rental shop. We recommend arriving at least one hour before your lesson start time. Your first day of lessons will be a half day learn to ski/ride lesson, and your second and third days will be full day lessons.
On the days you reserved your lessons, you will drive directly to the Union Creek lot and park your vehicle. When you see us in the parking booth, let us know that you are enrolled in Ski and Ride U, so we can check your name off our handy list. Head inside to the West Village rental shop to get your gear. We can’t wait to see you!! You are almost ready to start your day on the snow. After you pick up your gear, you will head to the lesson meeting area and meet your instructor! He or she will take it from there.
You have completed your three lessons already?! Awesome-now you get to pick up your season pass! After your third lesson, we will send you an email letting you know your pass is active. Swing by guest services in Copper One, and they will take your photo and print your pass. It’s as easy as that. Now get out there on the slopes with your friends and show them your mad skills!

Q: I am an intermediate to advanced skier but I have never tried snowboarding. Can I buy this product?
A: No. Unfortunately this product is NOT for cross over students. I.e. I am a skier but I want to learn to snowboard. The intent of this product is to be for guests who are new to snowsports. That is completely new to snowsports. The intent of the product is NOT to sell it to someone who is already a skier or rider, just looking for a cheaper pass.
Q: Is my Ski and Ride U package transferable? I want to give one of my lessons to my spouse/friend/family member.
A: No. The Ski and Ride U product is Non-Transferable. That means it’s only for you!!
Q: How long do I have to take my three lessons?
A: The lessons can be taken anytime in the 2013-2014 season. However, it is advantageous to you to take your three lessons as early as possible, so that you can enjoy your FREE season pass longer! The lessons are available to take between December 19, 2013 and March 30, 2014
Q: Are there black-out dates?
A: Nope. Your lesson/lift/lunch/rental/parking combo can be redeemed on any three days of your choosing, between December 19, 2013 and March 30, 2014.
Q: How does the parking work?
A: The three free days of parking can be redeemed on the days you come to Copper for your lessons. When you pull into the Union Creek Lot, simply tell the parking attendant that you are enrolled in Ski and Ride U, and they will check your name off their list.
Q: When do I ride the chairlift? What level of skier or rider will I be after I complete the program?
A: Typically, on the first day of lessons you will learn how to ride a surface lift, and a chairlift. Our goal and curriculum for you is to get you comfortable and safe while exploring green terrain.
Q: Does Copper have winter clothing available for rent?
A: We do not have winter clothing for rent at Copper Mountain. We recommend that you have your winter clothing with you when you get here for your first lesson.
Q: Is a helmet required?
A: A helmet is only required for lesson participants under the age of 18. If you are 18 or over, it is up to you to educate yourself on the benefits and limitations of wearing a helmet on the slopes.
Q: Can I mix up Ski and Ride lessons after I purchase Ski and Ride U?
A: You will need to choose ski or ride lessons at the time of purchase. The lesson discipline is not interchangeable.

NOTE: This program is designed exclusively for those new to snowsports. It is not meant for someone who already knows one discipline and wants to crossover to another. If you are familiar with skiing or riding and can get on chairlifts, know about the mountain, or have done it before, this program is not for you. We will be assessing this at the outset of the program. If you are deemed to be already a snowsports participant by your instructor, we will excuse you from the program and offer you a refund for the remainder of the program cost.
