Copper Mountain, CO…July 22, 2010…This weekend at Copper enjoy two new events, Hike MS and the Saturday Concert Series, featuring Shawn Colvin, both on Saturday, July 24. In addition, don’t miss Fridays at Copper (FAC) with a free activities all day*, a free live concert by Rojos Calientes and a free showing of Year One (PG-13).

 

Friday, July 23

10 a.m. – 7 p.m.           Fridays at Copper (FAC) – Free activities with every $30 shopping or dining purchase at Copper, including a free one-time pass for the climbing wall, bumper boats, quad power jump, paddle boats, go-karts and mini-golf.

5:30 – 8:30 p.m.            Hike MS Registration open, Burning Stones Plaza

6 p.m.                          Friday Night Street Party, with free live music by Rojos Calientes on the patio of CB Grille

Dusk                            Burning Stones Outdoor Theater, featuring a free showing of Year One (PG-13)

 

Saturday, July 24

7 - 9:30 a.m.                 Hike MS Registration open, Burning Stone Plaza

8 – 8:30 a.m.                Hike MS 10-mile route start time

8:30 – 9 a.m.                Hike MS 5-mile route start time

9 – 10 a.m.                   Hike MS 2-mile route start time

Noon – 3 p.m.                Lunch at Start/Finish Line on Jack’s Deck

6 – 8 p.m.                     Free live music by singer/songwriter Audra Mae at Incline Bar & Grill

7 p.m.                          Doors open for Saturday Concert Series, Pavilion

8 – 10 p.m.                   Saturday Concert Series featuring Shawn Colvin (ticketed show), Pavilion

 

Hike MS, a brand new fundraising event brought to you by the Colorado Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, offers three beautiful mountain hiking routes over varying terrain and mileage. Coloradans’ interest in outdoor pursuits and healthy activities makes this event perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, day hikers, current members of the MS Society family and community members who wish to support a great cause. Enjoy an amazing live music performance in an intimate setting during the first of three in the Saturday Concert Series on Saturday, July 24. KCMV presents live music provided by Shawn Colvin in the Copper Pavilion from 8-10 p.m. Admission is FREE for Copper Lodging Guests and $15 for all others. In an era when female singer-songwriters are ever more ubiquitous, Shawn Colvin stands out as a singular and enduring talent. Enjoy her Acoustic, Pop, and Folk sound. “Shawn Colvin Live” has been nominated for a Grammy Award for the Best Contemporary Folk Album.

 

This summer, FAC stands for Fridays at Copper, and it also stands for FREE. Copper's FAC includes free music, free movies and free activities. Ok, the activities are almost free. *Spend $30 in the Village on Fridays and you get free tickets to the 6 village activities, from bungee to bumper boats. For free and fun, plan at least a couple Fridays at Copper this summer. We’re talking free music, activities out the yin and the yang, cold brewskies, and scenery that will leave you breathless. No, that’s not just the altitude talking.

  • Friday Night Street Party, July 23 – Free live music by Rojos Calientes, Summit County's most exciting, innovative and respected acoustic band, blending Bluegrass, Latin and Folk Rock, at West Lake.
  • Burning Stones Outdoor Theater, July 23 - Free showing of Year One (PG-13), the 2009 adventure comedy with Michael Cera, Jack Black, David Cross, Paul Rudd and many more. Year One is a Biblical comedy about a pair of misfit hunter-gatherers who embark on a wild journey through the ancient world after being banished from their primitive village.
