Enjoy ‘Snow Salutes: a Yoga Retreat for Snowboarders and Skiers’ at Copper, January 29-30

Copper Mountain, CO…January 26, 2011…In conjunction with the Yoga Mat studio in Denver, enjoy a new event at Copper this weekend, Jan. 29-30, during ‘Snow Salutes: A Yoga Retreat for Snowboarders and Skiers,’ with three yoga classes plus three healthy meals for only $150. Saturday, Jan. 29, wake up to salute the snow with an hour long morning yoga class, then ski/ride Copper all day.  Saturday evening brings après ski yoga: a restorative class that will leave you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. Then do it all over again on Sunday, Jan. 30.

This workshop will teach you key poses to warm you up in the morning and stretch you out in the evening. You'll also learn how to avoid injury on the slopes. Come ready to shred and stretch. We'll see you on the mat.

During the time Erin Bakersmith has been running the Yoga Mat studio in Denver, she’s noticed some parallels between two popular physical activities - yoga and snowboarding. There’s the body-awareness aspect, as well as yoga’s calm, meditative feeling that some skiers and snowboarders also experience on the slopes, but the commonalities go beyond that. “A lot of the benefits that come with yoga are amazing,” she says. “Like the balance, the focus you need, the flexibility, being able to prevent injury. It just seemed like a natural progression.”
