Enjoy a Multitude of March Events at Copper
Copper Mountain, CO…March 4, 2010…You Deserve a Snow Day at Copper and to help you enjoy your days of freedom, starting mid-March there is an event every weekend until Copper closes for the season on April 18, 2010. Also, March is one of the historically snowier months of the season, so there is no better time to visit Copper.
Starting off on Saturday, March 13 is O’ Fuego, a St. Patrick’s Day themed street party the whole family will enjoy. The following weekend is Breathe In, a skiing and music festival fundraiser for a Cystic Fibrosis cure, with three live music acts on Saturday, March 20, and don’t forget to carpool with at least three friends on this day to get entered to win a Copper season pass for next season. The last weekend of March brings the 22nd consecutive year Copper has hosted the Colorado Special Olympics Winter Games, on March 28-29. In addition, the free Tucker Mountain snow cat rides have begun for the season, on Fri. - Sun, conditions permitting.

O’ Fuego, Saturday, March 13
En Fuego meets the luck of the Irish with O' Fuego, a free street party the whole family will enjoy, from 4 – 7 p.m. This En Fuego features bonfires scattered throughout the village to keep children’s hands toasty warm, a flatland BMX stunt show, free live music by Canned Hagis, Colorado’s most diverse Celtic band, Marg O' Ritas from Margaritaville, plenty of green beer, and the grand finale of fireworks over West Lake…all this makes for an epic Saturday night.
Breathe In – a Fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis, March 20
Make a difference by elevating awareness and raising money in support of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at Breathe In, Saturday, March 20 in the Village at Copper. In addition to a day of world-class skiing, Breathe In will feature live music from Eliot Lipp, The Motet and The Pimps of Joytime from Noon – 6 p.m., free beer and an event t-shirt for donations starting at just $30. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Colorado chapter is the beneficiary of 100% of the proceeds, so please help fight this disease by making a donation today. Carpooling Celebration Day, March 20
This season, Copper Mountain is offering carpooling incentives to those guests trying to make a difference. On select weekends, carpooling guests with four or more per vehicle will receive a unique carpool bumper sticker, a great deal on lunch at select Copper restaurants and the chance to enter a contest to win a season pass for next season. Bumper sticker slogans include: Copper Pities the Fool Who Doesn’t Carpool, Carpoolers Get More Action and Carpoolers Do it Together…get yours before they’re gone. This is Copper’s final Carpool Celebration Day for the season.
Colorado Special Olympics Winter Games, March 28 - 29
The Winter Games mark the culmination of the winter sports season for the 550 athletes who annually participate in Alpine Skiing, Cross Country skiing, Figure Skating, Snowshoeing and Snowboarding. This season marks the 22nd consecutive year Copper Mountain will host the event. Copper is proud to be the official winter training site for all Colorado-based winter Special Olympics athletes. Individual and group volunteers are needed to assist with event operations. Free Cat Skiing now open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays
The Tucker Mountain Snowcat access is as close to a backcountry experience you’ll find inside any resort. Tucker Mountain and Copper Bowl offer expert skiers and riders access to more than 1,200 vertical feet of Copper’s legendary high alpine back bowls. To reach the Tucker Mountain Snowcat, ride the American Flyer lift and then catch the Rendezvous lift. From there, continue on the Otto Bahn trail to the Snowcat meeting area near the base of the Mountain Chief Lift. Cats run from 10:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Fri., Sat., and Sun., weather permitting. Snowcat access is on a first-come, first-served basis. Cat operations, terrain openings and conditions may vary and are subject to change based on weather. Tucker Mountain closes at 2:00 p.m. Restrictions apply.
