America and Little Feat Headline the Free Copper Country Labor Day Festival

 

Copper Mountain, CO…September 1, 2009…Enjoy free live music from Copper Country headliners America and Little Feat, Sept. 4 - 6, at Copper Mountain. Copper Country also includes the Copper Country Arts Festival, Songwriter's Workshop, mechanical bull rides, the Copper Mountain Fire Department pancake breakfast, and the Copper Kids’ Corral which includes crafts, activities, a petting zoo, face painting, horse rides, and much more. Michael Martin Murphey, Richie Furay, Shelby Lynne, Buckwheat Zydeco, Amanda Shaw, Oakhurst, The John Cowan Band, Bill Miller, and Down the Line will also perform.

The Art and Craft of Songwriting Workshop and Lodging Package, Sept. 3 - 4, conducted by songwriters Mark Selby, Tia Sillers, Clay Mills and Sonny LeMaire, will improve your songwriting skills with help from this quartet of award-winning songwriters who have collectively written over 25 number one songs in the rock, country, pop and blues genres. Topics include: creating and developing song ideas, song form and craft, working with co-writers, writing for a band, the differences and similarities of songs in various genres and much more. The Songwriter’s Workshop package includes: a Thursday evening mixer, the all-day Friday workshop, a Friday evening performance, all Copper Country events and entertainment, three nights of lodging, including taxes and surcharges, starting at $475. Make sure to check out 16-yr-old Amanda Shaw, scheduled to play on Sat., Sept. 5 at 1:05 p.m. Amanda is a New Orleans-based singer, songwriter, fiddler and actress that is part of a new breed of young, roots-based musicians who have embraced both traditional and pop sounds, creating music that is both authentic and bold.

The Copper Country Arts Festival hosts exhibitors showing both traditional and contemporary Country and Western items, in addition to the indoor Fine Art Exhibition. The outdoor exhibitors, as well as the Copper Kids' Corral, will be on the Pavilion Lawn, along with the Bull Boogie Mechanical Bull, the Quad Power Jump, creating the perfect festival atmosphere. The Fine Art Exhibition will take place within Copper’s indoor pavilion located just west of Burning Stones Plaza between the base of the American Eagle and Flyer lifts, with all forms of media represented and a full bar. Admission to the Art Festival and the Fine Art Pavilion is free.
