The Samples Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day At Copper

January 21, 2010

Copper Mountain, Colo… Copper Mountain is the place to be in Summit County during that special day in March when everyone is Irish. Saturday, March 17 features bagpipers playing throughout the village, authentic Irish fair, spirits, plenty of green beer and free live music with The Samples beginning at 3:00 p.m. at Copper’s West Lake.

The Samples started in Boulder, Colo. in early 1987 before releasing their first, self-titled, major label album in 1989. Selling out venues across North America, The Samples live shows helped launch their legendary status within the live college circuit. Their music is a mix of folk, reggae, jazz and rock with a pop sensibility that always maintains a unique signature. Twenty years later, front man, Sean Kelly and new members still please the crowds and put on a fine show, especially near their home turf.

Following the daytime merriment is a special St. Patty’s Day themed En Fuego starting at 6:00 p.m. including a torchlight parade, street entertainers Sven the Fire Juggler and Firemancer performing throughout the village, warm bonfires and a brilliant fireworks display seen from Burning Stones Plaza in the heart of Copper.
