Camp Copper debuts as a unique summer day camp consisting of seven distinctively themed five-day sessions emphasizing fun and participation-based education where campers learn from new experiences, mountain education programs and each other. From June 19 through Aug. 4, Copper Mountain is Colorado’s Base Camp for kids’ fun and adventure.
Weekly themes include “Ooey Gooey Wet ‘N’ Wyld” where thousands of gallons of water come together with the coolest, grossest science experiments; “Camp Castaway: Pirate Flags an Scallywags” where campers finish the week by going to the premier of the new “Pirates of the Caribbean” film dressed as pirates; “Topsy Turvy Time Twist Explosion” where every day is a different time adventure and more.
“Without education, the value of the camp experience is lost. Without fun, campers won’t be open to learning. These two elements cannot be separated,” commented Joel Egbert, Camp Supervisor. “I’m looking forward to our unique programming. Camp Copper is made up of some unbelievable experiences.”
Each session includes traditional camp activities like climbing, fishing, canoeing and hiking in addition to session specific activities like caving, trips to amusement parks, fossil searches, river rafting, hikes up fourteeners and more. Included in each session is at least one “adventure day” where campers go off site as well as a family night where campers present a film/slide show summarizing the week’s events.
Campers will also have the opportunity to enjoy camper choice programming. Egbert explains, “Each camper has his or her own distinctive needs and expectations and we don’t want to limit development or stifle the experience, so we are open to working with each camper to come up with the best possible activities.”
Camp Copper is focused on kids ages 6 through 13 seeking the full-week experience but also caters to daily, drop-in campers interested in one- to four-day attendance. Parents can also be a part of the Copper Base Camp experience with numerous adventurous, life-enriching vacation opportunities including hiking, biking, climbing, golfing, rafting, nationally renowned live music, unique events and more.
