COPPER UNVEILS UNIQUE "BASE CAMP" EVENTS
May 23, 2006
Copper Mountain is fast becoming the premier summer "Base Camp" for individuals seeking adventurous, life-enriching vacation experiences. Copper is a place where visitors can trail run along the legendary Colorado Trail before returning for a plate full of freshly made sushi. It's a place where guests can embark on a fully supported 75-mile cycling ride before collapsing in a cozy bedroom. It's also the place where passionate, independent-spirited people can participate in a number of exhilarating events before retiring to the comfort of an intimate resort village. Following are some examples of those events:
CopperMan Marathon, July 9
The CopperMan
Marathon tests the endurance of runners and enthusiasts alike. This
inaugural event is Summit County's only marathon and one of
approximately 10 in the state of Colorado. In addition, Copper will
host a half marathon (13.1 miles), a 10k (6.2 miles) run and a two-mile
kids' run. Runners from all over the country are expected to convene on
Copper for the highest marathon in the country and surely, one of the
most beautiful.
CampExperience, July 19-21
This luxury retreat
provides busy women leaders a respite from their everyday whirlwind
lives and an opportunity to reconnect with themselves and their peers
in a beautiful mountain setting. This very special retreat will foster
education, communication, personal growth and amazing experiences in an
environment of positive energy, creativity and playful fun. For more

Courage Classic, July 21-24
Courage Classic is a
long standing tradition at Copper Mountain. In its 17th year, the
three-day bicycle event benefits The Children's Hospital. Cyclists
travel over 150 miles of Colorado's most scenic mountain byways and
quiet backcountry roads, visiting Leadville, Vail and most of Summit
County before ending each day's ride. With challenging climbs and
picturesque views of the central Colorado Rockies, the Courage Classic
is the ideal way for guests to push themselves before they pamper
themselves.
Copper Triangle, Aug. 5
The return of the
Classic! The famous Copper Triangle has long been considered one of the
classic Colorado road rides. Graced with breathtaking scenery, gorgeous
roads and three challenging mountain passes, the Copper Triangle
exemplifies cycling in the Colorado Rockies. Benefiting the Davis
Phinney Foundation and its support of Parkinson's research, this epic
ride travels over Tennessee Pass, through historic Leadville, over
Kenosha Pass, through Minturn and past Vail before heading back down
the final decent from Vail Pass back to Copper Mountain and the comfort
of a restful mountain resort. For more information, visit www.coppertriangle.com.
