COPPER CELEBRATES THE HIGH ALPINE HOLIDAYS AND SPECIAL NEW YEAR’S EVE EN FUEGO
January 21, 2010
Copper Mountain, CO… December 19, 2006… In November, Santa made a grand entrance by skydiving into Copper’s Burning Stones Plaza to help light the tree and kick off the season’s festivities. The fun continues at Copper throughout December with the High Alpine Holidays and New Year’s Eve celebrations not to be missed including a special En Fuego street party and a disco-themed dinner party in the Copper Conference Center.
High Alpine Holidays – through New Year’s Eve
The
High Alpine Holidays celebration at Copper Mountain combines a
beautiful mountain setting with entertaining and joyful activities for
the whole family. Each day until Christmas Eve, Santa uses the mornings
to ski his favorite runs at Copper and takes pictures with guests at
the decorated tree in Burning Stones Plaza from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.
Santa will also be walking throughout Center Village with his reindeer
most afternoons until Christmas Eve.
West Lake Frozen Fun – opening Friday, Dec. 22
Guests
at Copper have been waiting patiently for the lake to fully freeze so
that the ice skating, broomball and curling can begin at Copper. Ice
skate rentals are available at Chubs for $8. Ice skating is free to
those with their own skates.
En Fuego – Saturday, Dec. 23
Copper’s ongoing
fire-themed street party keeps onlookers warm and gets the weekend of
fun rolling with bonfires throughout Center Village, Sven the Fire
Juggler, Copper Ski & Ride School’s Torchlight Parade, Handsome
Little Devils Vaudeville-style comedy act and fireworks over the
mountain.
Christmas Eve – Sunday, Dec. 24
Santa visits
West Lake with his reindeer from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. to make last minute
additions to the wish list and give rides on his sleigh. Burning Stones
Plaza is the place to be at 7:15 p.m. to catch the long standing
tradition that is the Christmas Eve Torchlight Parade at Copper. A huge
procession of torch-bearing skiers and riders weave their way down the
mountain in celebration of Christmas.
Christmas Day – Monday, Dec. 25
After making his
rounds delivering presents, Santa and his reindeer visit West Lake from
11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on December 25. Children can thank Santa for
their favorite gifts and catch a ride on his sleigh.
New Year’s Eve En Fuego Celebration – Sunday, Dec. 31
Copper
is on fire during the En Fuego street party and countdown to ‘07. Hip
hop pioneer DJ Spinderella of Salt N' Pepa performs a free show in
Burning Stones Plaza in addition to festivities in and around the
Village at Copper including fire jugglers, bonfires, the Ski & Ride
School torchlight parade, a nighttime big air and superpipe show with
the Copper Freeride Team and brilliant fireworks displays.

The
Bighorn Ballroom in the Copper Conference Center comes alive during a
disco-themed dinner and dance party Sunday night. The dinner buffet
