About Safety Fest

Copper Mountain has won top awards the last three seasons and last year received “Best Overall Safety Program” for a large resort in the nation by the National Ski Areas Association.

With NSAA’s Annual Safety Awareness Month in January, Copper is excited to have the entire month   to showcase their season-long safety programs.   The large and popular event of Safety Fest held on January 18th, 19th and 20th is an opportunity for community and industry safety entities to join Copper Mountain and share their knowledge and safety tips.

New this year for Copper is two great programs!  Copper is excited to promote mountain intelligence and safety messaging through their new app called Sherpa.   Wearing one earbud and plugged into your smartphone, Sherpa delivers terrain updates, secret stash updates and tips on how to stay safe on the slopes.

The second new program is our Siesta Zones or rest areas.  These are nylon fenced areas on the mountain where guests can pull behind and get out of the main stream of skiers to rest their legs, adjust their equipment, etc. These Siesta Zones will be located throughout the mountain in high-interest areas.

We our continuing and building on our “Protect Your Grill, Look Uphill” campaign. With pins, stickers and signage throughout the Resort, this initiative’s goal has and continues to increase awareness while skiing to avoid collisions. Copper continues to focus on safe skiing and riding with their “Heads Up” and “Slow Top to Bottom” banners. With new signage on the slopes and website this helps support Copper’s Mountain Safety Patrol whose job is to influence skiers/riders to ski in control and within their ability! Copper’s new trail map better delineates Slow Skiing Zones and Family Zones at the Resort.  Our focus on hydration, skiing with a buddy and the importance of wearing helmets continue to be important safety messages.  In the mazes or our lifts you will see maze rack covers with these symbols.  Guests can learn more about these topics and obtain free water and fun safety stickers from the booths.  Kids will also love to pick up trading cards of their favorite Copper Mountain Avalanche Dogs.

While visiting Safety Fest don’t miss Frisco and Silverthorne Elementary’s  artwork hanging in   Jack’s Cafeteria. Last year we had a national winner from Silverthorne Elementary based on her artwork on “Stay in Control.” The students’ assignment is to create art based on “Your Responsibility Code”.

Copper is fortunate to be able to team up with many community safety organizations who will participate in Copper’s family-friendly Safety Fest. They will be sharing a tip or two about safety from the village to the slopes. Get your Safety Fest raffle credential  from Copper personnel or at the “Copper Safety Zone” tent, visit all the tents and be entered into the daily drawing at 1:30p.m each day.  Prizes and giveaways  worth more than $ 10,000 include lodging at Copper, Private Tucker Snow Cat trip, Tubing passes, ski tunes, Copper Season Pass, Snow Day Pass, day Lift tickets, athletic club passes, golf for four, helmets, hydration packs and more! Guests must be present to win.
