Being a member of the US Ski Team competing on the World Cup Tour, I find myself visiting some amazing places. From Japan to Sweden, from Russia to France, each stop is both unique and beautiful.
I am currently sitting at the kitchen table in a small condo unit in Ruka, Finland. I’m sharing this living space with two other teammates, and our first World Cup competition is only two days away. We are so far north (just a few kilometers below the arctic circle) and the sun barely peeks over the horizon, offering a beautiful sunrise and sunset that blend together for just over two hours of “daylight”.
This first World Cup is also our first of six Olympic qualifying events. I’m a little nervous, but I also feel ready. I know I’ve trained my hardest, and now I’m excited to get this season started!
I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of my family, friends, community, and especially Copper Mountain. As you can imagine, traveling around the world for skiing is an awesome lifestyle, and I’m excited to officially represent Copper Mountain around the globe. After all, Dorothy said it best – there really is no place like home.
