Warrior Dash is the world’s largest running series and is held at more than 50 challenging and rugged terrains across the globe—including Copper Mountain! Participants bound over fire, trudge through mud and scale over 12 obstacles during this fierce 5K. After pushing their limits and conquering extreme obstacles, Warriors celebrate with live music, grub and beer steins! Founded by Red Frog Events four years ago, Warrior Dash has transformed into an internationally recognized running series and currently holds bragging rights for being the largest of its kind anywhere on earth.

The Copper Warrior Dash draws over 15,000 participants ranging in age and ability level, though audacity is required of all entrants.  “I loved that anyone could do it—I was running alongside 60-year-olds and kids,” said Marissa Stephenson, Fitness Editor of SELF Magazine. While an accomplished athlete—she's done the NYC marathon and works out near daily for work—conquering Warrior Dash was a first for Marissa. "The inclusive, fun vibe—racers dressing up in crazy costumes, people helping each other over the obstacles, and the wild, beer-slinging, music-blasting festival at the end—was my favorite part about Warrior Dash, and the reason I totally want to do it again."

Warrior Dash is an equally entertaining spectator event. Large crowds gathered around the Warrior Roast and Muddy Mahem obstacles (shown above), both conveniently located in Center Village, to watch family and friends leap over fire and wade through mud. The Friday Night Warrior Dash Pre-Party followed by two full days of live music, savory food (turkey legs are the races’ signature menu item) and plenty of top-notch people watching made for a fun-filled weekend.

After witnessing first-hand the exciting success of Warrior Dash, Copper’s events team decided to launch it’s own winter-themed adventure race during the closing weekend of the 2011/12 ski season. The CopperMan Winter Adventure Race—also 5K—was littered with frozen obstacles that included a quarter pipe slide, snow tunnels and even a hot chocolate pit (fashioned from an above-ground swimming pool and plenty of Carob powder!).

Both Warrior Dash and CopperMan are slated to return during the 2012/13 season. Look for dates and specific information to be annouced via Facebook and Twitter.
