"We started at Playground Park – one of Copper's seven terrain parks – located at the top of the new Union Creek high-speed quad. The small features of Playground are perfect for warm-up. The three guys in the group were all around the same level, advanced skiers but freestyle neophytes. We did a few laps and then added in medium-sized features, boxes, and rails at the adjacent Alliroo Alley Park. Then came 180s and hitting the rails sideways. Our instructor, Max, provided a constant stream of feedback and encouragement. We ended the on-snow session at the 22-foot superpipe – everyone's virgin halfpipe experience – and worked on riding the wall smoothly and consistently, staying below the vert."
