SHRINE PASS - Moderate
Beginning at the Vail Pass rest area, at 10,580 feet, the Shrine Pass route climbs gently for 2 miles attaining 11,089 feet, then dropping 9 miles to Red Cliff. A graded gravel road for 4 miles turns into a graded soil route with a variety of stopping points and posted optional rides. Don't miss The Mount of the Holy Cross Observation Site at approximately 3 miles. Advanced riders and mountain biking enthusiasts may choose to turn off after 3.25 miles to the Timber Creek and Lime Creek rides - both marked. Many cyclists prearrange to leave a vehicle in Red Cliff to avoid a long return uphill trek.
WILDER GULCH - Moderate
Access Wilder Gulch one mile south of the Vail Pass rest area by riding down the paved bike path and heading west under the bridge of I-70s eastbound lanes. The old Wilder trail reverts to a single track at times, climbing up a willow-filled valley to a breathtaking viewpoint on Ptarmigan Pass with unsurpassed Colorado mountain views extend in all directions.
COLORADO TRAIL TO SEARLE PASS - Moderate to Advanced

This single track route is a section of the well known Colorado Trail (CT) which crosses the state on its journey from Denver to Durango. This mountain biking trail offers some challenging sections as it climbs to a spectacular mountain panorama atop Searle Pass, 12,040'. The trail continues along Elk Ridge to a high point of 12,280' before descending to Kokomo Pass, 12,000'. Access to the Colorado Trail from one of three access points at Copper Mountain. A small pull out provides parking for the access on Hwy 91 just south of the entrance to Copper Mountain (8.9 miles to Searle Pass). Park in the Chapel parking lot to access the Colorado Trail where is crosses under the American Eagle chair lift (7.5 miles to Searle Pass). Limited parking is available at Union Creek where you follow the service road for a short distance to the intersection with the CT. Be alert to stay on the Colorado Trail from Union Creek to Guller Creek as there are several confusing side trails. Access from the paved bike trail via Guller Creek was closed in 2001 to re-vegetate the area for wildlife habitat.
