Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month
January was Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month! A great excuse to dust off those skis or that snowboard and take a lesson or two.

Growing up in Colorado we spent a lot of time in the mountains. Kids were put on skis at a very young age. I loved going up to the mountains and we spent a lot of time in Copper with relatives and cousins. It brings up a lot of fond memories. Once I became a mom and took my kids to the resorts, we saw a lot more snowboarders too. I personally have never tried snowboarding, but I’ve always wanted to try. I think my son would love it!
Copper offers such a great variety of lessons for your kids to fit their individual needs. You could do some private lessons or small group lessons. We tried some group lessons at first with our kids and then did some private lessons to help them more specifically. It worked great! If you really want to provide a fun learning experience for your kids, you need to try out Woodward. “With year round ski and snowboard programs, we offer winter day sessions, our new program- Ski and Ride with Woodward, and more. The Barn was the first indoor ski and snowboard training facility with trampolines, foam pits, and Snowflex jumps dedicated to terrain park and pipe progression. Come develop your tricks in the Barn and progress them in Copper Mountain’s parks and pipe.
My kids spent some time at Woodward and did not want to leave! If you are looking to get your kids started in skiing or snowboarding, Copper is the place to go. They have so many different packages and plans for you and your family. You can go directly to the Copper mountain homepage and get all of the information you need. This is the perfect time to plan a family trip or spring break trip. Personally, I’m not huge on being cold when I go skiing, but I LOVE skiing in Spring. Something about skiing without a coat when it’s warm and clear skies is perfect! Hope to see you on the slopes!!

I'm 30 something and never skied in life - just a beach girl relocated to Denver who never cared much for cold.
But friends around the country were meeting in Copper for the weekend, so I joined them and took a private ski lesson at Copper Ski & Ride school this past Sunday.
With the help of my instructor, Mr. D.H., through basic skills, learning to turn and stop on the tiny hills with literal toddlers, then up the Kokomo lift, I was making it to the bottom without a wipeout by the third try.
I never thought I'd ski but the lesson and experience was better than I ever had hoped. And taught me once again to to never say never. Thanks guys!
