Copper Mountain, CO… Copper Mountain has long been a place where guests can enjoy not only world class skiing and riding, but also unique off-mountain experiences. For 26 years guests have enjoyed Copper Stables’ Scenic and Dinner Sleigh Rides. Now, guests have an opportunity to experience the beauty of the mountains with Copper Stables’ new Afternoon Chocolate Sleigh Rides.
Chocolate Sleigh Rides leave promptly at 3:00 p.m. daily. Guests can visit the historic Wheeler Barn – adjacent to the Transportation Center in the Alpine Lot at the east end of Copper – while waiting for the sleighs to arrive. Guests then take a 20 minute scenic ride, with views of the Sky Chutes and Ten Mile Range, through the woods to a cabin where they can enjoy delicious Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory s’mores and roasted marshmallows.
Copper Stables also offers Dinner Sleigh Rides twice nightly at 5:00 and 7:30 p.m. and Scenic Sleigh Rides based on demand. After checking in for dinner at the Wheeler Barn, guests take a cozy ride under warm blankets through snow covered woods. Once the team of draft horses arrives at the turn-of-the-century miner’s style tent, guests can relax by the woodstove, enjoy live entertainment and feast on a four course gourmet meal.
Meal options for Dinner Sleigh Rides include sirloin steak, oven roasted half chicken or beggar’s purse stuffed with vegetables and cheeses. Sides include delicious puff pastry, roasted corn chowder soup, Caesar salad, garlic roasted mash potatoes, steamed seasonal vegetables and apple cobbler. In its new location, the new miner’s tent features more space and round tables replacing the bench seating.
Three pairs of Percheron Draft horses, at a robust 2000 pounds each, make up the team of Copper Mountain equines – Frank & Jessie, the 12 year veterans of Copper, Bill & Bob, the junior varsity squad and Princess & Lady, the mares that round out the team.
Dinner Sleigh Rides cost $78 for adults 13-and-older and $47 for children 4-12 yrs. Scenic Sleigh Rides cost $25 for adults and $15 for children. Afternoon Chocolate Sleigh Rides cost $35 for adults and $20 for children. Interested parties can call (970) 968-2232 or visit any Guest Services desk to make reservations.
