COPPER MOUNTAIN, Colo. — November 8, 2012 - The energy levels of freeskiing athletes across North America shifts higher with another action packed winter competition season just around the corner. The North Face Park and Pipe Open Series is opening athlete registration Thursday, November 8, 2012 at 10:00AM MST. Athlete Relations anticipates registration to fill extremely fast after opening.
Prequalified athletes must also indicate interest by registering. Prequalification is based off of the 2011-12 AFP end of year standings. The top 30 men in slopestyle, top 20 men in halfpipe, top 20 women in slopestyle, and top 20 women in halfpipe are prequalified. Athletes must be 14 or older to compete as of December 31, 2012. Important Athlete Information
**For Copper Mountain and Northstar California Resort events only, athletes must have a valid FIS and USSA membership at least one week prior to the event to compete. To purchase your FIS and USSA, visit http://ussa.org/global/ussa-fis-membership-applications.
**Athletes must be at least 14 years old as of December 31, 2012 to compete. Athletes under the age of 18 will need to have a legal guardian sign both the MSI and Resort Waivers and bring them to each event. The waivers for all four events can be found at the bottom of the first page of the registration site.

All four PPOS events are part of the Association of Freeskiing Professionals (AFP) competition schedule. The Copper Mountain and Northstar California Resort stops will both be International Ski Federation (FIS) sanctioned NORAM CUP events with athletes earning FIS points. Athlete registration for all four PPOS stops will open Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012 at 10 a.m. MST.
Founded in 2010, The North Face Park and Pipe Open Series (PPOS) features park and pipe skiing competitions with $55,000 in total prize value up for grabs. As one of the only open-format event series, amateurs have the opportunity to compete alongside top pros.
