Copper Mountain, CO…The arts are alive at Copper Mountain Resort this summer as the Village plays host to art walks, silent auctions, arts festivals, and live artist paintings. Art enthusiasts will enjoy the Parker Artists Guild Village Art Walk this weekend, July 15-17; the ArtGuitar Silent Auction during Guitar Town, Aug. 12-14, and the Arts Festival during Copper Country, Sept. 2-4. Parker Artists Guild Village Art Walk, July 15-17*
The Parker Artists Guild, made up of a wide variety of artists living in and around the Douglas County and Denver Metro areas, will bring fine art and fine craft of all styles to Copper for this 2nd annual Village Art Walk. The event takes place Friday and Saturday from 10am – 6pm and Sunday from 10am to 4pm in Center Village.
The mission of the Parker Artist Guild is to advance the development of fine arts in the community. To accomplish this, the Guild participates in a variety of art shows during the year and offers instructional demonstrations, workshops and opportunities to promote all forms of fine art. The Parker Artist Guild was formed in May of 2001 by seven local artists. The organization has grown to more than 200 members. Membership is open to anyone interested in the arts and includes professional and non-professional artists from beginner to expert. Oil, acrylic, pastel, watercolor, photography, jewelry, sculpture, pottery, wood carving, painted tiles, quilt making and stained glass mediums are represented in The Parker Artist Guild. http://parkerartistsguild.com/
ArtGuitar Silent Auction during Guitar Town, Aug. 12-14*
ArtGuitars will soon be on display at the Guitar Center in Denver and these ArtGuitars will be auctioned off during Guitar Town weekend at Copper, August 12 – 14. In the spirit of the “Chicago Cows,” artists from around the community and Colorado have designed, decorated, painted and created the ArtGuitars from damaged guitars, kindly donated by event sponsor Guitar Center of Denver. These guitars are mostly damaged or otherwise unsellable as instruments, but as works of art, and as fundraisers, they are in many ways, priceless. Bids are being accepted now at Guitar Center, as well as throughout the Guitar Town weekend. All proceeds from the silent auction will benefit the Copper Environmental Foundation. www.CopperGuitarTown.com
Copper Country Arts Festival, Sept. 2-4*
The Copper Country Arts Festival hosts exhibitors showing both traditional and contemporary Country and Western items, in addition to an indoor Fine Art Exhibition. The outdoor exhibitors will be on the Pavilion Lawn, along with Copper’s other kid-friendly activities, creating the perfect festival atmosphere. The Fine Art Exhibition will take place within Copper’s indoor pavilion located just west of Burning Stones Plaza between the base of the American Eagle and Flyer lifts, with all forms of media represented and a full bar. Admission to the Art Festival and the Fine Art Pavilion is free, and both are open from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Sept 2-4 during Copper Country. Confirmed 2011 artists include: Piera Kllanxhja, Dean Russell Thompson, Kim Shaklee, Lori Taber and Ronald Dulle.
Summit County’s Fall for the Arts Celebration, Sept 9-11*
During the first annual, county-wide arts celebration, enjoy a weekend of music, fine art, theatre, dance, children’s activities, and, of course, Summit County’s legendary fall colors. This event is organized by Arts for the Summit, a locally supported organization that represents over twenty cultural entities in Summit County, Colorado. Their mission is to communicate, collaborate and coordinate events in an informative format for our art patrons. Although this event does not take place at Copper itself, we are proud to support our Summit County neighbors in this inaugural event. www.artsforthesummit.net
