COPPER MOUNTAIN, Colo. – April 22, 2014 – Copper Mountain’s parent company, Powdr, a leading mountain resort owner and active lifestyle company, today, Earth Day, announced ‘Protect Your Playground’ Copper Mountain Community grant recipients. Copper Mountain’s Green Team selected local residents that were empowered and inspired to develop solutions for environmental issues that affect their local natural playgrounds and communities.

Copper Mountain rewarded community individuals like Summit High School’s, Mindy Regner. With funding from Protect Your Playground and assistance from High Country Conservation Center, Regner plans to build a Summit High School Green House with the long term goals of support a year-round farm to table culinary program. “Over 800 students and 60 faculty members working together to grow fresh food for the schools Catering Room, this project will only take 2-3 weeks to build and will last a life time,” said Regner.

Additionally Copper Mountain employee, Ryan Trump was selected to receive funding through Powdr’s Protect Your Playground. Trump plans on replenishing the Copper Mountain Summer pedestrian friendly village with hummingbird feeders to revitalize the hummingbird population during the summer months.

Throughout the four month submission process Summit County individuals submitted ideas for funding to protect their local environments. All grants are reserved for individuals – no money was rewarded to nonprofits or corporations.
