First Tracks U.S. Alpine Ski Team Naming at Copper Mountain This Friday

The U.S. Ski Team Speed Center at Copper Mountain is now open for training. U.S. Ski Team athletes began training on the only full-length downhill training venue in the world available early season on Friday, Nov. 1. The full team of Olympic hopefuls, including Ted Ligety, Bode Miller, Lindsey Vonn and Mikaela Shiffrin will be introduced this Friday, Nov. 8 during the Nature Valley First Tracks Alpine Team Naming.

COPPER MOUNTAIN, Colo. — November 6, 2013 —  The U.S. Ski Team Speed Center at Copper Mountain is now open for training. U.S. Ski Team athletes began training on the only full-length downhill training venue in the world available early season on Friday, Nov. 1. The full team of Olympic hopefuls, including Ted Ligety, Bode Miller, Lindsey Vonn and Mikaela Shiffrin will be introduced this Friday, Nov. 8 during the Nature Valley First Tracks Alpine Team Naming.

  • U.S. Ski Team members named in ceremony in Burning Stones Plaza
  • The Swon Brothers, recent finalists on NBC’s The Voice, headline free All-American pep rally concert

The full day of events kicks off with the U.S. Ski Team and Copper Mountain Vendor Village in Burning Stones Plaza, Center Village at 9 a.m. Spyder, Nature Valley, Blue Diamond Almonds, Coors, POC and others will be on hand to provide information and free samples to Copper Mountain guests. Guests are invited to check out training from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the base of the Super Bee chairlift. JJ’s Rocky Mountain Tavern, located inside Copper Station will be open for lunch to the public. Kids and parents are invited to the Copper Conference Center from 2 – 3:30 p.m. to decorate posters to help cheer on their favorite U.S. Ski Team athletes. A parade will lead athletes and fans into Burning Stones Plaza where the “Believe in U.S.” Pep Rally will begin at 4 p.m. The official 2014 U.S. Alpine Ski Team will be announced in an official naming ceremony, determining the athletes set to represent the U.S. at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. The Swon Brothers, recent finalists on NBC’s “The Voice,” will take the stage at 4:30 p.m. in Burning Stones Plaza, Center Village.
