COPPER MOUNTAIN, Colo. – February 20, 2014 – With over 20 feet of snow this season and forecasted storms on the horizon, Copper Mountain packs March with events and unsurpassed skiing and riding. February and March are historically full of the best conditions of the winter season; the time to enjoy Copper’s 2,216 acres of sliding splendor is now.
2014 Colorado Special Olympics – March 2
Cheer on Special Olympics Colorado at the 26th year at Copper Mountain Resort, athletes will compete in alpine and cross country skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing. The event will feature 250 competing athletes and over 300 volunteers. On Sunday, March 2, at 9:30 a.m., the lighting of the torch and Opening Ceremony Parade into Burning Stones Plaza kicks off the day of competition. At the completion of the days’ events, athletes are celebrated by a torchlight parade and fireworks in Center Village at 6:30 p.m.
Turn Saint Patrick’s Day into Saint Patrick’s Weekend – March 15 - 16
Join Analog and Woodward at Copper for Go Huck Yourself, a jam style contest on Woodward’s 22 ft. quarter-pipe located in Central Park Terrain Park on Saturday, March 15. Free registration is located at the Woodward at Copper Cage from 9 – 11 a.m. and contest starts at 12 p.m. Skiers and riders compete to win free gear from Analog and Woodward. Make sure to wear green on St. Patrick’s Day, Saturday, March 15, and see deals throughout the resort. When the lifts stop turning, Von Stomper fills Copper Mountain Center Village with American folk tunes with Celtic flair from 4 – 6 p.m. Free St. Patrick’s Day themed fireworks will follow at 8 p.m. over West Lake located in Center Village. Copper Mountain Resort Ambassadors invite guests on a free Moonlight Snowshoe Tour from 6 – 9 p.m. The tour starts from West Village and traverses frozen creeks and wooded trails, leading to a romantic meadow lit by the full moon. Flip, Spin, and Fly Like Olympians with Woodward Winter Camps – March 22 - 23
Join Saga Snowboard and Ski Outerwear, GNU Snowboards, and pro-snowboarder Stephanie Sue Field on Saturday and Sunday, March 22 – 23, for Woodward Winter Camp. Winter Camps follow the same progression as the daily offered Freestyle Lessons – a half-day in the Woodward at Copper Barn and a half-day spent in Woodward’s award winning terrain parks –and each camp features free gear giveaways thanks to camp-specific partnerships with some of the hottest ski and snowboard brands in the industry. 2014 USASA Nationals – March 26 – April 9
The USASA National Championships are the largest snowboard and freeskiing event on earth.
