Woodward Copper is one of the most unique indoor/outdoor year-round action sport training programs in the world. Woodward’s programming is built on a foundation of gymnastics and action sports where aspiring riders and skiers, can learn and perfect new skills in the Woodward Copper Barn, a 19,400 square foot action sport facility, before taking them to the snow, sometimes all in the same day. Skate and BMX riders can also utilize features in The Barn during the winter months. Woodward Copper is dedicated to progression and programs are designed to help participants learn proper technique in a positive environment. In the spring of 2013, Woodward Copper Barn underwent a half-million renovation project which opened the door to far beyond snowboards and skis to now include skateboards, BMX, scooter, and slopestyle mountain bike. All synthetic snow surfaces were replaced with a surface designed for wheels called Skatelite. Families and amateurs alike are invited to experience the renovations expanded offerings for never-evers with additions including a new beginner foam pit with a 2-foot jump, a pump track designed for the development of park skills, and new programming to bridge the gap and see results on snow.
Woodward’s Terrain Parks mend the seam between indoor training and on-snow trick stomping glory.
Woodward Copper’s Terrain Parks have historically been included in Transworld Snowboarding’s Resort Poll for “Best Parks” and Woodward keeps raising the bar. Copper opens its 22-foot Main Vein Superpipe located at the base of the mountain early in the season. In fact, it was the earliest Superpipe to open in the world for the 2012/13 winter season. The Superpipe is walking distance from Burning Stones Plaza, making for easy viewing from Center Village.
Winter sessions vary from one hour to multi-day, depending upon individual interests. Lesson packages are available, incorporating both The Barn and Woodward’s on-snow terrain parks, including a 13-foot progression mini-halfpipe to a 22-foot Olympic-sized Superpipe. Woodward Copper is the only program of its kind to have on-snow summer camps during the summer months. Programming is available for ages 8 to 108. More Information
Woodward Copper Backstory
When Woodward Copper opened its doors in 2009, it transformed the action sports industry by blowing through the glass ceiling of winter sport progression. Basing its philosophy off of Camp Woodward in Woodward, Penn., which opened in 1970, Copper Mountain was the first indoor/outdoor mountain home for this revolutionary product. Still one of few training facilities of its kind today, Woodward Copper raised the bar, yet again, in the spring of 2013 with improvements that will not only transformed winter sports training, but will caters to summer and never-ever action sports enthusiasts, as well.
